The first ever “Koast-to-Koast Kibble Drop” took place between December 13-22, 2011, making stops in Cincinnati, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Washington, DC; Merrick, NY; New York, NY; Greenwich, CT; Kanab, UT; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. More than 40 shelters and rescues received a total of 40 tons of Halo’s Spot’s Stew for the holidays. National and local TV, dailies, blogs and radio stations, including Petside, Newsday, Dogster, Catchannel.com, KGO-TV in San Francisco and many more, happily shared news of the exciting journey with an audience of nearly 4 million. Additionally, our press release ran in more than 50 outlets, including The San Francisco Chronicle, CBS Moneywatch, Miami Herald and more, reaching another 500,000 readers in just one day. Ellen surprises 9-year old animal rescuer with a few gifts including Halo FoodOn January 21, Ellen DeGeneres welcomed 9-year-old Karlie Smick to her show to talk about the young girl's compassion for animals and what she is doing to help them. Since the age of 6, Karlie decided that she no longer wanted to received birthday presents or even have a birthday party. Instead, she raises money to help animals in need.
